70 mph? Really? This car is actually safer than cars way larger than it. But what vehicle is "safe" in a crash at 70mph?

if both cars were doing 70, then yes the total energy would be equivalent to hitting a wall at 140. This test is basically this has the same energy involved as two smart cars hitting head on at 35, which doesn't sound that bad but really is.

such an Irony how the smartcar is actually, most probably, the most dumbest decision you can make on the subject of buying a car... seriously? mini coopers and vw beetles were already dangerous enough. fucking "smart"car?!

    That is incorrect.

The amount of force applied by a head-on collision with a moving object is MUCH greater than a non-moving object like a wall.

The 70 MPH force of the mass of the other object would be applied to your vehicle, and yours to it.

Best case scenario: you don't have to buy a new windshield after you lost your limbs.

I think for a so little car like smart and 70 mph speed the results are good. Ιt is not safe but th it is impossible with this little car and 70 mph crash speed to have better results

No. 2 of the same vehicles travelling at the same speed in a head on collision is like hitting a wall at said speed (IE; 50mph, 70mph, whatever speed the cars are being driven at). The forces applied from one vehicle to the other are the same in both directions. So hitting a car at 50 is still hitting a car at 50, regardless if the other car is moving at 50 or not. Something like that, anyway lol

what about a head on crash at that speed? wouldn't the impact be 140mph?
