Some clips from motorcycling tours I ran in the Algerian Sahara in 2007 and 2008. I drove down with the bikes; the riders flew in and off we went for a few weeks. They rode 450 KTMs (1 DNF), XR400 (1 DNF) XR600 (DNF), DRZ400 (DNF), NX650 (heavy), XR250, TTR250 (light) and XR650R. Jon the pace bike ran his ex-Desert Riders XR650L with a giant white 38L tank. I used an M.A.N 8.136 truck and a Mazda B2500 pickup.
For the full Desert Riders dvd see http://www.adventure-motorcycling.com/desert-riders/index.htm see the preview here on youtube, same goes for the Desert Driving dvd http://www.sahara-overland.com/desertdriving/index.htm

  • What part of Algeria you were in on the clip? Can you position your video position on google map? Thanks.

  • Not really. Algeria is a million square miles and the clips from the two trips cover the lower half million - mostly south of In Salah and around Tamnanrasset and Djanet in the east.

  • i am getting a xr650l. where you get that 38l tank? great video by the way.

  • They were the last of the Acerbis units for XR600s and I think we got the last three in 2002.
