I listened today to 2 excellent messages treating the issue for whom did Christ die and what did He accomplish in that saving death. Go to ligonier.org to the audio broadcasts and listen to the messages 2/13 to 2/15 Definite Atonement, Pt. 1 and 2 and the beginning of Irresistible Call Pt. 1. The key is the definition of the word "cosmos" or world -- there are 10 ways it's used in the gospel of John. Thank you.
@mysteriumaenigma I don't think I have a problem with the priest saying Jesus is the Son of God and source of salvation. I have to listen to it again, but I think I remember him saying that salvation is possible for those who don't believe in Christ. In other words, a person can be saved if they love the Father but not the Son -- this is error.
@mysteriumaenigma Jesus is the source of salvation does not mean that all will be saved -- I think that's what you're saying in which case I agree with you. If someone comes to Him -- believing in His work on the cross for them, a full and complete atonement for their sin -- that person will be saved.
@mysteriumaenigma I see catholic as a different religion to Christianity, catholiscism is about rituals and tradition where Christianity is about relationship with Jesus, Baptist churches teach the truth, they do not teach the same as catholics and Baptists is a denomination of Christianity unlike catholicism which is a different religion altogether, the catholic church seems to separate itself from other Christian denominations.in the end it is not the name it is what basic teachings they teach
@mysteriumaenigma catholic is not a type of Christian, why? because of their unbiblical doctrines and teachings which is very different to what Christians teach, if the basics of what the church teachers is not like that of the Bible, it is clearly not Christian. the catholic church is in idolatry worshiping images and statues, "honoring" or worshiping Mary, having a pope as head of the church when its Christ who is the head of the church, and works based salvation... continued..
@danwazhere7 - Catholic is a type of Christians, just as Protestants are a type of Christians. The term Catholic was originally used to distinguish the true Christians form many other heretic groups who were claiming to be Christians.
Talking about Antioch, it was Ignatious of Antioch said. "Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church".
There are some people who realize who Jesus is and still knowingly reject him. Those people are probably not going to be saved. However, it does not mean that Jesus is not the source of salvation for those people. Jesus is still the source of salvation for everyone. If those people change their mind and go to the source of salvation (Jesus) later, then he will save them.
@karen46ify - You did not answer how Jesus is refuting the Catholic priest's belief. The priest said "Jesus is the son of God and he is the source of salvation of all."
The priest did not say everybody will be saved. He said Jesus is the source of salvation of all. All people who are going to be saved, will be saved through Jesus.
Manning is a modernist heretic, he is not Catholic.

@danwazhere7 - Per your logic, Baptists are not Christians because they label themselves as Baptists?
