Most people consider Apple to have stolen it. They didn't. The Mac OS was Unix-based, the GUI was changed, and there were completely different software and hardware for the Macintosh. Microsoft didn't copy from Apple either. Microsoft was NOT Unix-based, had different programs, a different GUI, and different hardware.

This is so amazing. What more do I have today? This ran on a 1 MHz(?) computer with some Kilobytes of RAM and that was it?! From my Gigabytes and Gigahertz PC today I'd expect so much more and it's not there :-( Makes me think...

i was searching allover google to find a way to make the desktop display in thumbnail size they should bring that back. it is much more user friendly

it makes it easier to know what might be in the folder before you go to it. thumbs all the way up!!! heh thumbs

Right. Apple wrote their own kernel up until OS X. From what I've read, MS looked more to X/Windows (used on Unix) to model its GUI, though there's no doubt the work at PARC influenced Windows. MS sold its own version of Unix for a time, called Xenix. Charles Simonyi left PARC to work at MS. So he might've brought that knowledge with him, though he's mostly credited for bringing knowledge developed from Bravo (developed at PARC) to Microsoft Word.

lol@erischaot ur so right man... all we got was a prettier GUI and less software.

The good thing about the more ram in computers would be for video/audio editing or engeniering video audio or what ever.

Besides that... i don't get it.

Just shiny GUIS and same shit we've had for years nothing new or revolutionary just memory hogs. I like the new looks just hate the fact its like using XP if it was see through. Not really a new OS change going from XP to Vista just cooler graphics.
