Chincoteague Pony Swim 2011

I went to the annual Chincoteague Pony Swim this year! AMAZING.

long story short in case you don't know, every year, these wild ponies swim from Assateague island to Chincoteague island. They're guided by the Salt Water Cowboys and boats however. Once they get to the land and the people clear out, they parade them down the street to the corral and they will have an auction the next day. They auction off all the foals, but a few are buy backs. The point of this pony swim and auction is for a fundraiser for the firemen (who own the wild ponies) and to maintain a population of 150 ponies on the island.

it's beautiful. absolutely amazing to see everything that went on at these islands. Enjoy the video of the swim! Another video of the whole trip to come soon.

@TheGiuneaPigChannel1 dnt worry im not 1 to argue. :) i actually agree. god forbid something happens.. however they do hav the 'saltwater cowboys' and other rescuers in the water in case something happens. and they take the 1s that r physically unable to swim. like the babies, pregnant, injured, etc, and trailor them over. but yes, its life and anything can happen unfortunately :-/

@HorsegirlDMR yea ik i mean some can drown without ppl noticing or at sometimes they cant do anything about the drowing horse
