An improvised video to a drum solo that was originally improvised. The visual collage/drawings by Kevin Norton are not meant to be "blow by blow" representation of the music, but a feeling/impression of the music. The musical improvisation was meant to invoke the spirit of traditional jazz drummers like Max Roach, Art Blakey, Ed Blackwell as well as modernists like Dennis Charles, Sunny Murray and Charles Moffett. This track can be found on "Quark Bercuse: Solo Percussion Vol. 1" on FMR records ( http://www.fmr-records.com )The drum kit on the recording is a hybrid of Pearl and old Slingerland drums. The cymbals are Zildjian and Sabian. Percussionist/composer Kevin Norton and visual artist Morgan O'Hara will present a collaborative concert/visual experience at Experimental Intermedia (New York City) in March of 2011.
