Yeah, 3 Enviro 500's. We also just received 48, 2008 NFI D60LF that are slowly going into service. They have the ISL instead of our current S50 powered D60LF.
So that's why they're going double decker instead of dealing with the artics. Also, keep in mind, I was up there in May, maybe things are different now...
OC Transpo isn't the smartest when it comes to buying buses... The reason you see them all the time is because its all OC wants to put out. Two garages right now are low on Invero's since they keep constantly breaking down that it's normal to see a high floor out. Even the old D40's are out running routes that are almost always run by a low floor. I see classic's out all the time during rush. For me, I actually see LESS Invero's during peak so who knows whats up.
Hmm, well then why buy so many of them? And why when I was up there, there was nothing but Inveros and maybe some D60LFs and some of the other fleet sprinkled around? And I was there on a weekday, from AM rush to PM rush...in fact, I was up there for a few days...
I'm not sure what you mean by well received but these things break down ALL the time. I always hear riders complaining about it being so loud and everything rattles. It is VERY loud indeed. You can thank the Cummins ISL for that. OC Transpo was one of the only main buyers of this bus. Thats the reason they discontinued it since it had such low buyers.
That sleek and cool bus you refer to is the New Flyer, yes, New Flyer, D40i "Invero" model, which, from what I understand is no longer in production. OC Transpo ordered around 250 of those from 2004-2006 and have been well received by the riding public and bus operators alike.
