ABSTRACT Although contact between a western civilization and a primitive culture often leads to the disintegration of the latter, the culture of the Swampy Cree of the Moose River drainage basin appears to have reached its optimal period or cultural climax during the fur trade from their contact with European technology . A complementary perception of the resources of the region permitted a symbiotic division of labour by each culture which strengthened and materially benefited the other without a loss in cultural identity . Cultural disintegration for the. Cree only occurred in the twentieth century when the European culture altered its goals and relationship to the land and introduced a cultural clash through encroachment on Cree hunting grounds, the imposition of European laws, and the suppression of native Cree customs and practices

what a beautiful race of people , its just a pity the white man from Europe was so blind ....but evolution was going to happen and we must thank the stars above that America wasn't invaded from the east because they would have ethnic cleansed to the last child ... Europe where i come from was also in a turmoil , we had a famine here in Ireland plus France was at war with everyone else with napoleon being responsible for millions of deaths as he ran his own men to their deaths in Russia .

I am looking here, as I have been stunned by the fact I have Cree blood in me. As I live in England and am proud to have Roma blood in my veins, it was a shock.

Having worked it out, with a Russian heritage in the past, it makes sense now.

My relatives. We moved from France in 1600''s into big Cree settlement in Quebec. Lived there for generations then moved into Menominee Indian settlement in Upper Canada/WI. They are my relatives too.
