A trip to the American Adventure Theme Park, Derbyshire in 1997. The place was almost deserted and the rides were running mostly empty. As far as I know, the park has now gone and the site is derelict.
I was there same week as this video was taken and the ride operators were touting for riders !!!!!!!!! I spent more on sky coaster than I did on entry to the park !!! like thorpe park it was set round a lake which made for a great setting and the overall american theming made it unique !!
It was probably deserted because it looks a cloudy day and in September all the kids have gone back to school so families wouldn't be there. It used to be really busy until around 2005 when they tried to change it into a "family" park.
Went there around this time also. If youd told me back then in just 11/12 years time it would all just be a patch of land closed down, I would have thought you mad. I preferred this one of the big three as it was more intimate. That was a quiet day you were there! I wonder if anyone ever won that golf game they had there where you had to hit the ball into a hole on an island. I seem to remember the prize was a car.
I went there about this time when I was a kid. I can't be sure of the date but it was somewhere between the mid to late ninties. The park seemed to be doing quite well when I was there in the middle of june. I was really young I can remember that log flume being one of the highest structures I had ever seen. It seemed like 1000Ft in the air. I doesn't look that big to me now. I also remember there was a sooty ride/show when was that built?
That poor place. I went there in its last year and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The rides neally ran empty and there must of been less than 100 people in the park. When we arrived, there was that little cars parked on the car park we thought the place was closed!

I loved this ride.
I miss the theme park, so handy to get to for us midlands people.
Sad to see it closed in 2007.
