On UK Fontana from 1967 ,Croydon Mod/Soul band cover Eddie Cochranes classic ( depending on what form 2 wheeled form of transport you ride) , a fantastic excursion into Mod Hammond for Nite People indeed ! B-side is "In the Springtime" and not worthy of much ,a dreamy trippy flower power ramble. Only pic I could source of the Nite People.

Great to read the latest comments since i was last here 3 years ago. Knowing band members continue to comment is fantastic. I wonder if any of Carnaby's are around on theirs??.

Where they came up with us coming from Croydon I do not know> We were from Bournemouth. With all these Nite People clips on You Tube we are famous at last !!! Where did all the royalties go ????? Chris Ferguson (Drummer and Founder Member - Nite People )

    Thanks for listening.

I was the organist and a founder member of the Nite People in 1964 when we used to play at the Disc-a go go in Bournemouth. Other members were Jim Shipstone (gtr/vocal), Chris Ferguson (drums), Tubby Turner (bass), Nigel Street(Baritone Sax), Pat Bell (Tenor Sax) and me on Hammond Organ. Jim's younger brother Francis (Frannie) took over bass later when we started recording. We mainly played on the college and Uni circuit and had a spell of 4 months in Germany in 1965. Still playing at 71.

Further message for sirjamespublishing . Yeah I know this is the million dollar quezzie - but can I still get the single "Summertime Blues" or "Sweet Tasting Wine" somewhere. Or that psychedelic period album you fellahs did? It's those singles though I really dug - 'specially that Eddie Cochran instrumental - magic. Great to hear you are still involved in some way musically. Yours in music, Chris Newman ... and yes I still go out and gig locally sometimes.

Brilliant to hear from you mate.Yeah I can still see you on that axe (fair hair I think) up on St Mary's College stage in that wooden hut type venue. I'm sure I remember the band wearing jazzy waist-coats on white shirts. Far more importantly though a great little band, The Nite People - plugged on Dave Symonds show on Radio One the lot. First college gig was with "The Lord Maurice" (pretty good) and next time "The Fusion Road Show" (very good) You guys though were best of all locally I reckon.

I actually saw this excellent outfit twice at a local gig (St Mary's College) here in Southampton when I was around 14 or 15 years of age, back in 66/67. The honking sax moved on but the omnipresent Hammond player was equally amazing, doing siren sounds and stuff before Emerson with Nice etc. The Nite People helped inspire me to want to get into the local music scene - which I did, not too long after, mainly as a drummer. I also discovered Eddie Cochran via this band. Thanks boys.

Amazing! I lost my original copy back in 1968 then paid a fortune for another in the 80s off a record collectors site only to lose it to the sun! Now here it is again THANKS!
