Dean Courtney never really made the big time but had several wonderful Northern Soul classics, the biggest being this song "I'll Always Need You". Other notable singles were "Love You Just Can't Walk Away", which I used to adore when I played it at Blackpool Mecca, and "We Have A Good Thing". This video was filmed by Jerry "Swamp Dogg" Williams, as a special favour for me, especially for "The Strange World Of Northern Soul". Now miraculously, when we first launched that documentary at Blackburn King George's Hall in front of 1300 people, Dean happened to be in the country at the time, so he came down in person and sang two songs live, "I'll Always Need You" and "Love You Just Can't Walk Away", which was a truly wonderful experience. Len Barry cut this song first, but Dean had the single with it, on RCA records in 1967. We re-recorded it and filmed this video to capture his magic.
