Solo Performance Axle-Back Exhaust on my G8 GT. Start up and Rev.

Windy day out and there was some clipping initially on the audio. Will try again for another clip when the weather conditions are better.

  • Are those 3.5 inch tips an option? Just wondering, because the kit says it comes with 3 inch tips...

  • @DanSVT03 Yes the 3.5" tips are an option from Solo. They do not weld those tips however because they will need some adjustment. They will also not sell them to you unless you have a GXP diffuser because they will not fit in the GT diffuser. I actually fit 3.5" tips in my GT diffuser prior to owning Solo so it can be done, but it is real tight and may do damage to the diffuser. They do not charge extra for them so if you have a GXP diffuser already, go with the 3.5" tips.

  • Wow, I think I just found the very first mod for my G8 GT by watching this video... Solo axlebacks huh? They sound great man. Not too loud, but it has a nice rumbe to it, which is just what I'm looking for. Been doing my homework on this product and from what I've learned, people are pretty satisfied with it.

They say the J pipes eliminate the drone... Did you have any droning with these?

$445 shipped? Wow. What a deal!

  • @DanSVT03 No drone in 8cyl mode...when AFM engages above 68mph is gets a little noisy for my taste. I was able to tune AFM out above 62mph so it is no longer an issue for me. Most don't seem to mind, but it depends on your taste. It is the best axleback you can buy IMO. Sounds really good. I have since added an X-pipe to my exhaust system, and the car sounds downright menacing. I've got some video of that too...though it didn't come out quite as good. It's louder than the videos demonstrate..

  • @majesticix Yeah man, I know what you mean about cameras not doing justice to the sound. I had an 03 Cobra with a catted x-pipe and a Magnaflow catback system that sounded incredible. Then I made a video of it and I was like.... huh? Definitely sounded 10x better in person.

I also like the tips on those solo axlebacks. 3.5 inch I'm assuming? They are one of the best looking set-ups I've seen too.

  • @DanSVT03 Yup 3.5". They look great in the GXP diffuser. Just ran into a guy outside my office this morning who heard me remote start the car...apparently people in my town have been talking on some local online board about my car being loud he said. I'll have to hunt that info down. Can't say I've gotten one complaint, all like the sound.

  • @majesticix Thanks for the info man...

  • $445 shipped, or $405 if you have Solo in Buffalo install it (install is free, assuming you're nearby)

  • How much did to solo axle back cost?
