About time to let everyone see and hear this song. It has been a pretty well kept secret for years. One of my favorite tunes anyway:

The Hellacopters playing the song 'My Mephistophelean Creed (Payin' The Dues)' which was never released on a record.
This was the sixth song of the show, which was recorded on June 12th, 1997, In Sweden at the Hultsfred festival.
"My Mephistophelian Creed (Payin' The Dues)" was performed in 1997 and '98. There's a better live recording of it (Roskilde 1997), but that's only audio.

Lyrics:
-------
I was raised well it suddenly start to rain
I was praised by garbage, trash and wicked veins
I've been hurt. But it passes me by the time
Pushing dirt, me and bud, a part of seeing clear

And it's mine, and its back and you feel this way
Won't you dance with me baby, we change needles in hell
Let's get on over for a 1000 knives out of me

You've heard it before now having a black place to be
In my Mephistophelian creed

I've been good to the families that don't care
Search, never neglect the devils stand
I've been hurt. But it passes me by the time
Pushing dirt, me and bud, a part of seeing clear

And it's there; yeah you can feel this way
Won't you dance with me baby, change needles in hell
Let's get on over for a 1000 knives out of me

You've heard it before baby having a black place to be

  • I'm all hooked up to this song and now I wonder... are the lyrics written up there actually accurate? Just curious (I mean, source or whatever)

  • @HarmonyInBlue:

Source is Crimson Ballroom (the 'Copters forum) - unfortunately quite a silent place nowadays. I never confirmed the accuracy of them, so feel free to make suggestions.

  • If memory serves me correct there was plans to release a live version of this song on record. I think they'd gone as far as having a completed master sent off to Munster, not sure but it's out there somewhere.

  • Thanks for the info, I heard that one many many years ago too, but I'm not sure if that was confirmed. They'll probably release is on some collection in future.

  • Is this their own song or a cover? I like it!

  • It's their own song that was never recorded in studio, but was in their live set in 1997 (and maybe 1998?).
