15 degrees ain't that bad. My Uncle carries in Chicago, and the windchill factor by the lake is below zero just about every day in winter.

@bananatree94 they are from center Argentina, that region is similar to kansas. they can live in snow

They look soo pretty and healthy. What are they eating? I have one and have had him for 3 years. He's molting and I can;t do as good a job as another quaker. Should I consider getting him a friend?

It looks to me like they are trying to stay close to that warm iron ladder.

we attend L.I.P.S. up the island on Long Island (we are on the East End). a fellow named Steve Baldwin, (not the actor) did a wonderful presentation on these Quakers in the Boros of New York City. I forget his website (DANG!) but maybe googling his name might bring it up this video = FIVE STARS and a favorite. thanks for posting. jz

These parrots aren't from the tropics, they're from a temperate climate in the southern hemisphere. Still a lot warmer than New York, but cooler than the tropical climates that a lot of parrots come from.

I believe the term is feral. They are most likely descendants of escaped birds who managed to adapt to the area's colder temperatures.

Amazing how adaptable they are. You would think that animals from the tropics [like parrots are] would not be able to survive NYC's cold winters, but they've adapted. Fascinating.
they've been here (parts of the US) since the 70's. There's a huge flock in Edgewater, NJ
