Islam did have a hand in America..Had muslims not siezed all the land routes to India. Columbus wouldn't have needed to find an alternate route.

First off, while the Muslims did make advancements, in large part they built upon what the Greeks and Romans had done via the Byzantine Empire. Second, where are all the Muslim universities today that focus in math and science? Oh that's right, they would get burned down and their professors murdered if they dared discovered something that contradicted the Quran. As long as the Quran is perceived as perfect and infallible by muslims, logic and science will never prevail in The Middle East.
