Direct Cutting Winter Canola

Direct cutting winter canola on July 6, 2009 with John Deere 9500 running 20 foot head. Part of the field had been swathed and harvested earlier in June. It was just to wet get the whole field swathed when it was ready.

i dont see what the big deal about swathing canola is! We dont and were still motoring along!

Swathing helps the crop dry down sooner so we can plant a second crop in the same year

My nephew should answer, he runs it most of the time. We replaced a 7720 with the 9500. Lot of improvements for the operator on the 9500. The AC has been a problem. Gets a little warm in the cab when the AC is down. We really like it. Runs like a top on very high blends or 100% biodiesel.

Haha! Oh yes i know my friend! I am just say that swathing is unnecesary on our farm! We have VERY hot coditions out near drumheller ALBERTA and we only seed spring canola!

This vid was in the last few acres. Yield not too great, had a wet spring. Probably not over 30 b/acre, 1 field did about 60 last yr. Not a big deal, it's still kind of a hobby crop for us, this is only our 3rd yr. Not much other canola around here.
