@vaibhavfromindia There are two parts to a compass: a magnet and a bearing. For a strong enough disc magnet, I'm showing in this video that you can use the magnet itself as the bearing.
That's a neat trick. If you can't see that, you're not paying attention.

@TheGyroid This is *making* a compass. One end points north, one end points south. Physics does that for us. To label it, you need to already know which way is which. The labels-- that is, which end of the earth we call north and south --are given by humans. Physics does not provide a way to tell north from south-- those are just names given by humans.
