@HeartsAndRiots Look, this man claims these Homosexuals WANT to change. I cannot think of a meaner way to treat people than to question their motives. Living with such a person is unbearable. If a man wants to change, LET HIM!

Uganda is, of course, a total red herring Maddow inserts to generate ratings. Of course this little Cohen guy has absolutely nothing to do with Uganda. If you think otherwise, go write a book about ANY controversy and see what thug uses it and see how you feel.

& the problem here isn't about that, but about the implications this will have for those who do NOT want to live a lie, but who will be forced by people around them who will think that there's a 'cure'. They will use this as evidence to hurt people, like in Uganda, or just break them mentally cause they won't have to try to understand them.

@fdzwes There's a difference between changing as a person, or acting in a different way out of fear or social desire. It's not because people change their actions, that their feelings automatically change.

@HeartsAndRiots Gay is behavior. Behavior is ours to control. Ass hunts, for example, can change. People with little sexual appetite at all can change. There are few more wonderful experiences in life than to make a personal change that betters us and/or draws us closer to people we love. You may argue for people doing anything they feel like doing NOW, but you know that has limits. You know you judge some behavior objectionable. If people want to change, LET THEM!

@fdzwes Ask yourself this: if you say being gay can be changed, if it's a choice, then when did you decide to be straight? Did you decide to fall in love with your first girl/boyfriend? Or did it just happen to you, beyond your control? & what makes you acting on your infatuation back then any more right than gay people acting on theirs?

@fdzwes Cohen will not get challenged on that statement, because people do indeed not grow up desiring to be gay. But neither do actual gay people. But think about this, turn it around. That's not because there's a possibility of change, it's cause of the abuse gay people have to go through every day. The way they are born makes their life harder.

@witchwild You are full of accusations and hostility. But Cohen is never challenged on his statement, "People don't grow up desiring to be gay." If that's true, there is no reason to change from hetero to gay.

You don't realize what YOU are saying. You're tell us that humans CANNOT control their sexual appetite. Oprah Winfrey has made a fortune by claiming people can do anything they put their mind to. The Oprah/Maddow/Permissive Culture is SO confused.
