The Lineup (1958) Part 8 Directed by Don Siegel with Eli Wallach, Robert Keith, Richard Jaeckel, Mary LaRoche, William Leslie, Emile Meyer, Marshall Reed, Raymond Bailey, Vaughn Taylor, Cheryl Callaway, Robert Bailey and Warner Anderson
This is classic film noir action. When Dancer and crew pulled out of the parking lot and the cops took after em with the big V8s rumbling, you know it's gonna be good.
My friend and I started rocking back and forth with glee, it was like we were at the Saturday matinee.
ou don't understand the criminal's need for violence"... Good line.
And the Forward Look 1957 Plymouth sedan and 1957 black Dodge sedan are too cool.
It is seldom that a 50s movie has an authentic looking car chase so well choreographed as this one. No cars crashing into each other or flying through the air... the suspense is the chase itself and dialogue of the bad guys being chased.
And the "famous last words" gag is pretty original script kind of stuff. A great film.
I second that emotion! The veteran character actor playing "The Man", Vaughn Taylor, played a wide rage of roles over the years from good guys to bad guys. His character here is QUITE chilling! And what Dancer does reminds me of a similar scene in "The Kiss of Death" from the late 40's (wherein Richard Widmark - in his film debut! - "helps" Mildred Dunnock down the stairs!).
1:45 Check out the blimp over the bay in background as bike cop radios in.
