@stormtracker1, The main reason you only pry open a corner is so it doesn't flash over. Also if there are flames around the engine, you don't want to be sticking your hands around there. So when it all comes down to it, its done for safety reasons.

Why dont they at least try to open the hood the correct way just to make sure it doesn't open then go prying the thing!
