This short tutorial provides an overview of methods and techniques used to map a bike route and import the data into ArcGIS Desktop 10. Comma separated values (CSV), GPX and KML files are used as part of the tutorial. A short discussion on recreational grade verses professional mapping grade GPS is followed by a discussion on using data obtained from a GPS-enabled smart phone.
