Cannabis is the world's favourite drug, but also one of the least understood. Can cannabis cause schizophrenia? Is it addictive? Can it lead you on to harder drugs? Or is it simply a herb, an undervalued medicine?

Addiction specialist Dr John Marsden discovers that modern science is finally beginning to find answers to these questions. John traces the cannabis plants' birthplace in Kazakhstan; finds the origins of our sensitivity to cannabis in the simple sea squirt; and finds out just what it does to our brains.

He meets people who have been changed by this drug in drastically different ways - from those whose lives have been shattered to those who lives have been revived.

@havikk666555 As for your anxiety and paranoia i would suggest a higher CBD to THC ratio since the discovery of US Patent 6630507 shows that the higher ration seems to calm the the conditions you were having. You may wish to try a sativa dominant hybrid since sativas possess high CBD's, though it also depends on the strain and breeding. I prefer canna capsules because it alleviates the symptoms & because the amount is low but concentrated there is no high effects and can be taken like a vitamin

@SatoriKensho all i can say is that once there is more research done into it, then we'll know the truth about it(the good and the bad), i agree, there may be good things about it, but there could also be bad things. i don't want to argue with you, we'll know the full truth in the future.

Yes, Cannabis is harmful to an In-mature mind. Otherwise it actually slows the growth of cancer cells and Is keeping count-less hundreds of thousands of people alive. Vaporizers deliver health benefits

@gibblets17 how is what? the negative impact of using cannabis? the legalization of it? be more specific. and i agree, opinion doesn't mean anything. science will tell us the truth of the matter.

@gibblets17 if they make it so everybody takes it in pill form, then nobody would be mad. nobody who hate it would have to deal with second hand smoke. i think it would help both sides(people who smoke it and people who don't),if it's made in pill form, people won't have to worry about finding a hidden place to smoke, and other people won't have to be around the smoking of it. idk, only time will tell.on the subject of whether it's bad or good, i believe that science will have the final say...

I'll say again that i do agree that it may help decrease pain and may have other positive properties, but i hate people who say that there is no research that it is bad at all(even though they've done no research of they're own).Look up Marinol,i believe in the future there will be no need to smoke cannabis,they'll be able to make pills with the amount of THC,CBD,ect.thats in it, that way you won't get any bad weed.

@gibblets17 i do agree that it may have some medical properties,but it can also be bad for SOME people.go to google and look up "marijuanna and mental disorders" or "cannabis and schizophrenia" or "cannabis and phychosis".don't be mad at my opinions,i can't really say i'm for the legalization of it or for keeping it illegal(either way,even if they make it legal,i'm still not gonna smoke it so it doesn't matter either way to me),i just want people to research the positive and negative sides...
