If you actually did the research, you would realize that its not smoke coming out the stack, its soot.

It is mostly carbon. Carbon is the backbone of everything on earth, The soot falls back to earth and eventually gets mixed in the ground. Your POS Toyota Prius' Lithium Ion batteries are worse for the environment then that 'terrible black smoke' you see coming out of that delicious stack.
