Actually, no. This is by Eric Idol, even if Mr Black performed this particular rendition; and he's got some of the words wrong too...

@maccas1329 Hmmm... have you ever seen the movie Contact? You know that seen where the main character is attempting to explain to the court that she cannot explain her experience or prove it happened, but she knows it did and it's the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to her ever, and has opened up her mind and heart? Thats EXACTLY what it's like to become a Christian. The experience simply cannot be shared through words, especially not youtube comments.

The Wikipedia page stated that Monty Python did this originally, Clint Black remaking the song partially. One in the 1980s, the other in 1999. Just fyi.
