Long load times got you down?

Step One:
Stop the logo movies from playing each time you start the game.
Cut the following from your X:\~\Mass Effect 2\BioGame\Movies folder:
- BWLogo.bik
- ME_EAsig_720p_v2_raw.bik

Step Two:
Significantly cut load times.
- While Mass Effect 2 is running, ALT+TAB or [Windows]+D to return to the Desktop.
- Hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc to bring up the Task Manager
- Right-Click "Mass Effect 2" and select "Set Affinity"
- Turn off one of the CPUs and click "OK"
- Reverse the process; Right-Click "Mass Effect 2" and select "Set Affinity"
- Turn the "offed" CPU on again
- Close the Task Manager and return to ME2

Thanks for watching.

  • The time you spend working this out is longer than the time that it saves... lol

  • @trignite

Maybe, but in the long run, I found that it justified the time put into the workaround.

  • @ThatOneInternGuy I would like to point out that this fix doesn't improve the loading time much the main problem with the loading times is with the load.bik files. If you get custom ones maps load withing 3 seconds (for me at least). Basically BioWare made it so that on most of the loading screens (not including normandy elevator ones) have to get to a certain point in the load screen usually over 11 seconds then will start loading the level. If you get custom .bik files it loads straight away

  • @trignite

This is true. I have also tried the custom .bik files and they do help.

  • I like your desktop theme, where can I get it?

  • @Funkyflorist

    @Funkyflorist

"Theme" is a little broad, but I will answer to the best of my ability.

Gadgets are from a program called "Rainmeter"

    Dock is Stardock's "Objectdock"

Background was found on the excellent nik.bot.nu image scraper site

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for watching.
