A song written by Kerry Livgren
Artist: Kansas
Album: Leftoverture
Year: 1976

Lyrics:

On a crystal morning I can see the dewdrops falling
Down from a gleaming heaven, I can hear the voices call
When you comin' home now, son, the World is not for you
Tell me what's you point of view
Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know
Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show
Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away
Tell me what made you that way
Here I am just waiting for a sign
Asking questions, learning all the time
It's always here, it's always there
It's just love, and miracles out of nowhere
Tell me now dear Mother, what's it like to be so old
Children grown and leavin', seems the world is growin' cold
And though your body's ailin' you, your mind is just like new
Tell me where you're goin' to
It's so simple right before your eyes
If you'll look through this disguise
It's always here, it's always there
It's just love and miracles out of nowhere
I sang this song a hundred, maybe a thousand years ago
No one ever listens, I just play and then I go
Off into the sunset like the western heroes do
Tell me what you're gonna do
Here I am, I'm sure to see a sign
All my life I knew that it was mine
It's always here, it's always there
It's just love and miracles out of nowhere

  • the musicianship is fantastic..they were incredibly tight..their voices accentuate eachother perfectly..just wonderful..I miss Real music like this..

  • Kansas are the Mozarts, Beethovens and Brahms of our times. No other band will ever make music like this.

  • The counterpoint in this song is just amazing. Especially at 2:50 in the song when Dave Hope comes in with his Fender Precision. They do justice to the Baroque Masters. When people goof on Prog Rock is just shows how ignorant they are.

  • I listen to entire albums of their stuff now on Youtube -music that used to exist in my life in a collection of vinyl discs long since forgotten or discarded- and I'm as much in awe now of their music as I was then. Just ridiculously good on so many levels.

  • @LorisPurpose You are so right...I graduated in the 76/77 school year and this was so radical for our times back then and it and others are on the soundtrack of my life from back then. Leftoverture is one of those albums you put on and listen to from beginning to end and now with CD's you don't have to flip the album!

  • have any of you listed to Yess songs or yess shows,It will blown your minds

  • Kansas are simply amazing.

  • The majority of people do not know that Kerry Livgren played and wrote with the 2nd Chapter of Acts in the late 60's-early 70's before he left to help form Kansas. This is why so many of their early music and some later have the Spiritual undertones in the lyrics. There are a lot of Scriptures that gave the platform for many a lyric. Obey Acts 2:38.

  • orgasm,orgasm everywhere

  • As a senior in H.S. in 1976 this became part of the soundtrack of my life. It's hard to explain it to anyone who didn't live it when it came out but the kind of "technical" rock Kansas was able to deliver, forever changed the way I appreciate music.

  • MEATWALL!!

  • True greatness always endures through. And no mater how bleek things may seem to be there is always this.
