King Kong - rejected score

What on earth is a "normal" score? Making it sound like every other film? The composer should be allowed to interpret the musical language of a film, since he or she is trained to do so. Unfortunately, decisions are left in the hands of non-musicians such as producers or directors. KONG needed a lush, retro sound to compliment it's antideluvian concept.

@alexmaglor08 yes, it actually did get a legitimate release as the "rejected score", although it is rather hard to come by.

WHEN are they going to release the rejected "King Kong" score? I'm very interested in listening to it and compare it the final score by James Newton Howard.

I love that the gong mallet is cheetah print. =]

What a terrible waste of money, you'd think they'd have worked it out prior to recording with the mockups...

It's a shame that they could'nt have combined these two slightley different kind's of scores.

Very Nice very good movie and song is asome!!!!!
it was actually both a decision on Shore and Jackson not to use his score. I believe Shore had a different concept of the music should be almost theatrical like in fashion instead of traditional film score, but Jackson, although finding that idea cool, ultimately decided that a normal filmscore story telling like sound would still be more appropriate than a conceptual one. Both parties agreed.

The bootleg of Shore's score is nothing more than some of John Frizzell's score to "Primevil", so unless you got a copy from Shore or personally worked on the score, none of you have heard it.
