Eco-Adventure documentary searches for rare rainforest medicinals, rainforest people and indigenous rights.
Join nature guide Don Hayes, founder of Rainforest Park Sanctuary as Eco-Traveler Safari® of Sarawak searches for the rare Bintangor tree on the island of Borneo. The film takes a look at the value of such bio-pharma plant sources found in the rainforest of the world and how they are threatened. We visit with Penan and Iban medicine men while treking a 100 million year old rainforest in search of this rare tree which contains a compound known as calanolide A, now being tested by National Cancer Institute in the treatment of HIV and Tuberculosis. Many of our healing medicines can be traced to biopharma sources discovered and used by indigenous peoples in these biodiversity rich rainforests. We see how they live and what threatens their existence while traversing jungle rivers and incredible scenery.
