Film Description: John Hughes wrote and directed this quintessential 1980s high school drama featuring the hottest young stars of the decade. Trapped in a day-long Saturday detention in a prison-like school library are Claire, the princess (Molly Ringwald); Andrew, the jock (Emilio Estevez); John, the criminal (Judd Nelson); Brian, the brain (Anthony Michael Hall); and Allison, the basket case (Ally Sheedy). These five strangers begin the day with nothing in common, each bound to his/her place in the high school caste system. Yet the students bond together when faced with the villainous principal (Paul Gleason), and they realize that they have more in common than they may think, including a contempt for adult society. "When you grow up, your heart dies," Allison proclaims in one of the film's many scenes of soul-searching, and, judging from the adults depicted in the film, the teen audience may very well agree. Released in a decade overflowing with derivative teen films, The Breakfast Club has developed an almost cult-like status.

  • Omg even though Bender seems really unlikable I just wanna give him a hug, and tell him it's okay, and talk about his feelings.. is that just me?

  • @CutieTheGP i kinda think that claire cried simply from the fact she had just realised how shitty some kids grow up

  • @TheGmgirl77 it never aired in some European countries. I too have seen this movie in 2012 for the very first time. I come from a country which had quite different style in the 80s.There were no drugs. And no one would or could make a movie this honest, actually trashing 5 different ways of bad parenting.

  • @jerachin actually, none of these kids has "the worst" family. The point of this movie is to show you , that ignoring a child or pushing a child to be on the top can be just as bad as beating. Brian wanted to kill himself. Not Bender.

  • When you grow up...your butt....sags.

  • @CutieTheGP hahah exactly, like i feel like he's so angry and harassing and unlikable, and in real life someone like that would be isolated and avoided because they're scary to other people, but there's something wounded and vulnerable and sad about him too that makes you feel bad, hes also painfully honest but in a sociopathic way like lisa in girl inturrupted

  • actually bender was being mean to claire in this scene because he was disgusted of her putting lipstick on with her tits

  • has anyone ever noticed she put the lipstick in her purse twice haha fail

  • @MegaJosie44 You'll have to figure that out on your own.

  • @MrTaylorreaves He's telling her the truth about her life that she doesn't want to accept.

  • @wreyoG HOW THE HELL did you only discover this at the age of 34 (my age) ???

  • I love this movie
