the actual sword is straight, although it bends side to side, because the metal is flexible. if you take a look at the broad sword, it's much more bent and is of course, "broader"

actually these are made of Wushu Steel meaning that they aren't suppose to be very hard. They are used mainly for kata, performances, and well... to show off. they are suppose to bend at the top part, but you are correct... performance swords usually are very easily bent.

his sword is probably bent because of using it too much or something
performance swords are very thin and easy to bend, however they are usually still very sharp

Same as most any other performance sport. Like gymnastics or figure skating. You are judged and given a score, the person with the highest score wins.
