All through solid modernity, the fight was to manifest the hidden... the obvious truth and let it bare fruit. No matter what was said about them, how they were treated, the best folk searched for the truth. That search is part of the definition of what it means to be human and alive... What is means to be black... No matter your skin color.

i hope others read bauman's work as well. have you read his other books? how do you cope with these "crazy" lives?

I have not read his other books, but I am familiar with postmodernity and other social theories. Your?
1) I take care of my body so that I am able to see and think through all the noise and bullshit.
2) I comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
3) I continually vary myself, while still having control over my moods. Just as an experienced sailor always scans the sea and detects a squall far in advance, I try to know what the effect is on myself and its probable effect on others.
