  • Independence Day is one of Bruce's greatest songs...this was written and played live during the 1978 Darkness tour but the recorded version didn't appear until a year later when The River album came out. He fine tuned it a bit before the album came out.

  • I don't know why, but I've never really been a big fan of Bruce. That isn't to say that I dislike his music, but probably due more to that fact there is just so much other music, that i never really took the time to listen to him. I like a few songs & have o admit, the more of him I hear, the more I like him. I like THIS song! It has a great story. The song alone, you could almost practically write a movie using the lyrics as a screenplay. I'm picturing a father/son, didn't get along......
