Prodigal Son (Josh White)

Prodigal Son by Josh White. I used most of his original 1935 song, but "modernized" it - adding a verse, changing another, and removing another.

But his original message about what might happen to a young boy who runs away from home, is still here.

I perform no antics this time; this remains a sad, solemn and still very relevant work.

But I did change the music - to a sadder minor key and with riffs and fills I have used for years as a right hand exercise for the blues guitar.

Note: I wear the ski mask because I'm otherwise famous, and don't want this to "get out".

@poddubny Yes standard tuning. Am using more or less A minor fingering, but have a capo on at the 2nd fret pushing it up into the key of B.

Did you compose that? That's increadable. I can't get how you could play that and sing at the same time.

@BULLBRANDDANI did "compose" the guitar music, but the original lyrics are by Josh White; there I "modernized" several verses a bit.

I had to play it a long time before I could sing to it. I think one part of my brain can play guitar, and another part sing. But that part doesn't sing too well.
