Dave Matthews plays Hold Me Down (a rare solo tune) on 7/26/95 and 7/28/95. The song was played a total of four times (per dmbalmanac.com).

Part of Hold Me Down was later used in a song called Cigarette Lit which was recorded for Some Devil but not included on the album. That song later leaked to fans (You can hear Cigarette Lit on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDEnH7IFQ24 ).

I appended 7/28/95 after 7/26/95 so there are two different performances of the song in this "video".

  • 7.28.95 is one of my favorite shows. Too bad the sound on the only circulated version is choppy.

  • I was actually at the 7/26/95 Pelham, AL show and from what I can remember at 15, it was a really great show. I didn't quite realize I was at such an amazing concert with both "Hold Me Down" and "Exodus" being played in an encore. I was fortunate enough to have a signed DMB hat from this show and was elated to find a copy of the show a few years ago, which I often listen to!

  • hold me up so I can see you

  • "Daamn!"

  • @JayBTV i know how to play both parts and im not really sure what part you are talking about. and thanks for showing me these awesome songs.

  • What was the band he said?

  • This song is much better than Cigarette Lit, which is the song that it evolved into, which was also never released.

  • wish he would play this again...
