what does 10/100/1000 mean?

10/100/1000 = 10MBps or 100MBps or 1000MBps.

it's the available speeds for the lan cable.

so, this speed measure is more used from computer to computer speed over lan and not for internet speed?

well it can affect your internet speeds. for example if you are using a router that is also your modem for dsl or cable internet, and use an ethernet lan wire to connect to them, but then your internet speeds are higher than the available ethernet lan speeds you have (mainly the slower ones like 10mbps or if your lucky to get faster speeds, even 100mbps).

but you'll probably be using a fast enough lan setup, so you shouldn't have to worry. 1000mbps is is more than enough for now.

it's certainly -not- a proper server if it's running windows. if you don't care about security on your server, be it home or otherwise, then use windows server, "fag."

and... back to the original point, its for HOME use by normal people who obviously don't know how to operate linux.

my home server runs linux. i'd say i'm a normal person. this little acer server has great potential, it's just a shame that it comes preconfigured with such low standards. that's all.

Iv run my main file/media server on windows and never had any problems. I use linux but apart from "security" I dont see any advantage over it. Everything just runs on windows. Although I may have some bias as the last time i was actually using linux it wasnt even compatible with ntsf and required a lengthy task to try install a patch/mod that would allow it to access me media drives, after that i was like ah fuck it. Still use for a websever but cant be assed with it for anything else.
