Actually you guys are HALF right. He wrote this song for his dad. But when he was growing up he didnt get along with his dad so now he realizes what he meant to him after he passed away. Now he`s telling us what he did and what he`d do just to see or touch him one last time...

It is about his Dad. Listen to the lyrics. His Dad passed away and he wrote this song. Same as Living Years from Mike and the Mechanics, it is about the lead singers Dad.
