Judith Durham is a wonderful singer, and Judy Collins too, but nobody I've ever heard can touch Joan Baez' version of this song from her early recordings..

A wonderful English version of this touching love song.

Unknown date of original recording. Probably following the introduction of recording technology. It is pre-WWII. Wonderful french song. However, The Seekers recorded it in late 64, immediately after arriving in Britain. FYI: during a scene in "Band of Brothers", street musicians perform the song after an allied liberation of a french town. And I thought I was the only one who thought Judith uses way too much vibrato nowadays. 40 years ago, nobody could touch her vocal power.

This is Judith Durham at her very best--voice pure, simple and powerful. Her later singing is too vibrato---too operatic. Who cannot fall in love with her singing this song?

what happened to the video of this tune from their 25th anniversary concert that used to appear on you tube. don't tell me there are people out there removing great songs from the internet. lindsay evans nz
