Earth Day Kayak-a-thon 2009

2009 Charity West Palm Kayak-a-thon Fundraiser

On Saturday April 18, 2009, 60 kayakers participated in the 4th annual Earth Day Kayak-a-thon fundraiser hosted by Charity West Palm. The event, underwritten by the Conrad Hilton Foundation, departed from Adventure Times Kayak Center of North Palm Beach who supplied the kayaks. High winds did not keep the participants from enjoying a day of thrills and spills as the showed-off their unique individual styles of paddling. Approximately $8,000 was pledged by sponsors, friends and family who supported the kayakers. A post-event celebration was catered by Grease Burger Bar and Roccos Tacos Pub and Tequila Bar who donated food and drink.

This years none profit charity recipients are:

Palm Beach County Reef Rescue, The watchdogs of our coral reefs and coastal environment in southeast Florida (www.reef-rescue.org)
and
Shake-a-Leg Foundation, a Miami based organization that works with socially, mentally, and physically handicapped children in a marine environment.
