Some stills taken at the July 2009 MPAG shoot. This was an excellently taught beginner shell building class, everyone involved did very well. 26 out of 26 shells were successful.

For those who would like to become involved with a pyrotechnics club in their area, a location list can be found at:
http://www.pgi.org/fireworks-clubs.aspx

I highly recommend it!

  • do you use a booster? they don't break very powerful, right?... ( or is a booster only used for smaller shells?)

  • @vinceqwerty100 A booster may be used in any size shell under certain circumstances. It could be in a powdered form that is sprinkled over the break after all the components have been loaded, or it might be coated onto the rice hulls themselves along with the black powder. In this case I do not believe a booster was used at all. These shells were made in a class, and so were made as simply as possible. In my opinion, yes, these shells would have been better with a booster.

  • @Nighthawkinlight thanks a lot dude! btw if you use For Example whistle mix, and you "pre- mix" it with BP while coating rice hulls, don't you call that bezolift? Or is it only called like that in powder form?

  • @vinceqwerty100 You could call it benzolift, it doesn't really matter.

  • I'm in Michigan, can I join?

  • @TheRebelEye Absolutely. The next shoot is December 10th in Sandusky Michigan. Check out mpag(dot)org for more details. I'll be there.
