  • it was not a question of be capable to compose this kind of music, but more the fact when dmitri shostakovitch has composed the jazz suites, there was very few contact with the western world, at this time no television or satelite or long distance comunications, the only way how they could heare forreign music was by traveling or by listning to imported records (the very fragile backelite records)

    so this is at least one of the facts, of corse there was sencorship,but not in this period

  • Shostakovich wrote a kind of jazz like the burlesque*... or something like that a quite different style of jazz to now, because in that time musician wasnt capible of writting very western music.
