Carly Simon is one of the most important songstress/writer of all times. It is said that she wrote down this song to Mick Jagger... I'm not sure about it. And I really don't care about it. What is undinied is that this is more than a wonderful song.

  • I don't think it's just about one person. I think it's about several vain men.

  • @amysita77 This may be true. The world is full of vain people and it has always been.

  • Ms. Simon, despite your insistence I honestly don't think this song is about me. I've never met you, let alone been involved in a relationship with you. Furthermore you wrote and performed this song several decades before I was even born.

  • @cousinted Thanks for your comment, dude. I liked it a lot.

  • i heard this is about her ex husbend james talyor

  • @MrJelloshot No, it's not about James... She had already released this song when they get married. In fact, no one knows who this song is about.

  • @MrJelloshot no it was Warren Beatty at that time he was her lover

  • @lastrada52 Thing is, Carly Simon did not sign up withDavid Geffen at the time she wrote 'Your So Vain.'

  • This is back when Carly sounded like she really mattered in rock. The voice, the look, the songs and their subject matter. She was, at this time, brilliant. But as time went by, the songs became a little more unimportant. She coasted. Too bad because I think she was great. But lots of her latter songs never rang true in my ears. The momentum was lost & Patti Smith emerged. This song is the epitome of Carly's greatness. Mick Jagger on b/u vocals -- a bonus. Yeah, she really had credentials.

  • @splashenful - I heard that too splashenful -- it's actually David Geffen. Owner of Geffen Records at the time and the "freeman in paris" to Joni Mitchell's song.

  • Its about Justin Bieber DUH
