I love both of these horns. I made this video to compare the sounds of my Williams and my Shires. Interested in your feedback on what you think.

  • Hi Paul!

  • Sound great. The Shires has a bit of a cleaner, brighter sound without being "overblown" which is easy to do with small bore horns. I play a '57 2b and it's a problem I'm having. Looking into a larger horn though. Great job!

  • Makes me want to take up the drums.

  • I'd say the sound of the Williams when you play it is more compact in sound, more complex, but the Shires seems to slot a bit better, and the articulations are cleaner, more "legit" sounding, but both sound good; Williams is simply more interesting to my ears.

  • In the low register I prefere Williams

  • well you know, if you ever want to get rid of that williams...=]

  • The Williams i just...sounds better. And plus, it has that awesome water key. Williams wins.

  • i think the williams has a better tone quality and would be better for small bands or soloing, where the shires may be better for a concert, non jazz related piece.

  • i prefer the williams sound much more, its got that mellow vibe that suits your playing nicely

  • Nice sound both. I prefer Williams, specially relating to your way of playing which is milder and quite soft. Shires is more powerful but it needs more air to give you a better resonance. That's what I think.

    Keep up the bones!
