Welcome to a special Gulf Coast episode of West Wing Week. We spent this week traveling through communities on America's Gulf Coast to give you a special behind the scenes look at the federal government's historic and unprecedented effort to contain and clean up after the BP oil spill.

Join responders as they skim sheen off the ocean and respond to oiled wildlife. Stop by a town hall with Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, as he hears the concerns of locals. Join engineers as they pump mud into the well itself, creating a more permanent seal and much more.

  • my question is why are they only coming now? besides that why not accept all those boats theese foreign country's are sending us?

  • @ANAGHEEL Baaaaaaa....

  • So NOW the Federal Government is actually doing something. What they're not saying is that they're not finding any damn oil -to- clean up.

  • It is amazing how this one President has shared so much with the people of the USA. As for the golf and this oil mess, all Americans needs to remember this for this next election and many to come. This mess will take time before things are back to normal.

  • um, you know, we wouldnt have to be spending all of our taxpayers money if it werent for BP!

  • @xdallasfanx14 okay.. BP actually leased the boat so the boat wasnt theirs and the company that was taking so long to fix the leak that US the public thought was BP was actually Cheneys little money maker. Obama didnt tell you that... he just blamed British Petroleum.... but i guess he has midterms...

Even still im not taking away from the terrible event, just think that obama shouldnt have pointed the finger so badly at BP as there were so many companies at fault for this!

  • I can't believe BP and others want to drill the reservoir after this event that contaminated the ocean, killed many animals and damanged the shores. It's unbelievable. I'm happy there's so many people out helping to clean the mess, but do they really want to risk this happening again for $4 billion worth of crude in the reservoir? That's not right and I wish people would be less greedy and selfish and think about the ocean life and those on the shores. Get a clue people. DONT DRILL!!!!!!

  • coordinated unified area command in down town New Orleans

  • Realmente Presidente Obama leva com amor o seu trabalho, principalmente neste evento tão dramatico. Mas muito ainda tem que se fazer.

  • well to all those taking part in the huge clean up process! and thanks for showing the world what exactly this massive process involves everyone involved should be proud!
