LAWA JUNI - New Life is about Plan's hugely successful Kamalari abolition project in Nepal. A bonded labour system, Kamalari sees girls as young as six working as maids in wealthy homes. Often far from home, the girls are isolated and vulnerable to physical violence and sexual abuse. The film focuses on the story of Urmila, the 20-year-old president of the Kamalari Girls' Forum, who was a Kamalari from the age of six to 18.
