↑ HD requires a good computer. If it lags much, don't watch the video in HD. If your Internet connection is slow, pause the video and do something else while the video is buffering (it can take some minutes).
• Also, you can scale down and use the normal video player, I think it looks better in this way.
■■■ Settings ■■■
➩ 1. Recording source video :
- Hauppauge HD PVR (model 1227) video capture card (really good one! I bought it 230 €)
- High bitrate CBR 13,5 Mbps (peak : 20,2 Mbps)
- Connected to the Wii with component cables, records in 480p (59,94fps) aka "EDTV / HDTV (480p)"
- h.264/AVC video encoding (muxed in a .TS file)
- AC3 audio encoding (384 Kbps)
Default settings, except sharpness 255/255, Chroma/Luma 0
➩ 2. Video editing (using VirtualDub & AviSynth)
- "TT replay" (item box & time/lap count) [aka mdmwii's hack] overlays the upper part of the video (in fact, I record 2 different vids, and synchronize them)
- Video is upscaled from 640×360 to 1280×720 (HD size)
- Framerate converted to 29,97 fps (YouTube doesn't accept 60fps videos)
- Contrast, sharpness and saturation filters are added
➨ 3. Final encoding :
- Software : MeGUI Modern Media Encoder, x264
- Video : preset "Unrestricted 1pass Const. Quality Extra Q." (aka CRF mode), using CRF values between 20-25
- Background music is added and encoded to MP3 CBR 192 Kbps

There is a "video artefact" issue, even if it's not really annoying. It seems that my USB port can't handle properly very high data bitrates.
Example : http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/2649/usbvideoartefact.png
This happens every 4 or 5 second. Though, like I said, it's not really noticeable and I'll try to fix it.
EDIT : fixed, that was just a driver/recording software issue.

This run is the only WR with a Kart I've ever recorded, and I guess that, sadly, it'll still be the only one.

Hauppauge HD PVR (model 1227) video capture card
This is one of the best on the market? or money-wise you bought this if some others were too expensive?
OwnedRaze 1 year ago
It is one of the best for what I need (recording 480p videos). I chose it after a lot of comparisons.

@BowserBike
Why do you record in 480p when the HD PVR can record 720p?
RECUTMedia 8 months ago
@RECUTMedia The Wii console is 480p max, it does not support any HD format.
