People who find themselves caught up in anomic states -- for instance, soldiers in war or incarcerated inmates -- tend to feel helpless and alienated. They experience a partial or total loss of control. They have been rendered vulnerable, powerless, and defenseless by events and circumstances beyond their influence.

Torture amounts to exerting an absolute and all-pervasive domination of the victim's existence. It is a coping strategy employed by torturers who wish to reassert control over their lives and, thus, to re-establish their mastery and superiority. By subjugating the tortured -- they regain their self-confidence and regulate their sense of self-worth.

Other tormentors channel their negative emotions -- pent up aggression, humiliation, rage, envy, diffuse hatred -- and displace them. The victim becomes a symbol of everything that's wrong in the torturer's life and the situation he finds himself caught in. The act of torture amounts to misplaced and violent venting.

Wow, this species is fucked up. I believe you dealt with only torture of other humans here, but behind the scenes torture of innocent animals in "research" labs, meat farms, and so on, that's the undercurrent no one wants to admit to, the big pink elephant in the room everyone pretends not to see. Till we stop such things this species as a whole will remain lowdown and psychotic... not a good legacy or goal.

When in doubt I refer to Gods word. Colossians 2:16 ,therefore let no one sit in judgement on you in matters of food and drink. Romans 14:21 ,the right thing is to eat no meat or drink wine if it makes your brother stumble or hurts his conscience or offends or weakens him. So don't judge and don't offend each other : ) the word of God has the answer to every question !

@quicksilver3x3 Oh yeah, so is my grandma, who has been fed meat all of her life. And my sweet amanda, healthy and doing gymnastics. Also eats meat. Don't forget my strong uncle, who thankfully taught me the value of protein in muscle growth. They all eat meat, what's gonna happen to them man? Are they gonna die? No, they're going to live, well fed, thanks to the evil animal slaughterers. If you think meat isn't vital in humanity's survival you need to get over yourself.

Yeah, it would really be terrible if people stopped needlessly slaughtering billions of diseased animals from filthy factory farms, stopped seriously abusing antibiotics to keep them barely alive till slaughter, stopped having manure lagoons polluting ground water, etc., etc. Wow...

@95688kage And the "game" I play is one where I behave like a human being with empathy whenever possible, especially for the innocent/harmless/helpless, and I thrive on a vegan diet. If you think you're part of nature's food chain, that is psychotic in a sense, blatant unreality, believed because of what other people have taught you. I think for myself. Slaughterhouses are totally insane, especially for the ethically aware "superior" species.
