Turkish style knitting

A woman in Behramkale, Turkey knits Turkish style with the yarn tensioned around the neck. It's a short video and she is using novelty yarn, but if you look carefully you can see her pick up the stitch in the front as though to purl and flick the yarn with her left thumb. The yarn wraps around her neck from the right to left and is also tensioned around her left hand.
