Visit at the International Committee of the Red Cross Orthopedic Center in Kabul, Afghanistan, 2004.

When I visited Afghanistan in 2004 I heard about the ICRC Center where mine victims can get protheses for missing limbs such as legs and arms. This was one of the most energetic workplaces I have ever seen. Both men and women worked there, and they all had one thing in common, that they were all disabled in one or another way.

Unfortunately this clip is at some points not entirely synchronized with sound and image. This is because it was not intended to be a "documentary-ish" film in the first place. The doctor who is being interviewed, dr Helal, was very enthusiastic and told us so much about the center, but if I would include everything that was said this would be a very long clip. This is why I had to cut it off at some points, but I think the average viewer can figure out what it is about anyway. I have also removed clips of severely injured persons who were in pain, and also some women who did not want to be seen in the film.

If you want to read more about the Orthopedic Center, look at this link:
