  • 80cm? in that case not too bad. i know what you mean about video, sometimes digital cameras don't do a coil justice. never take offence to anything i say, there are so many design options i just enjoy the debate.

  • My ARSG was the weakest thing in that setup, because it was a simple drill. But unfortunately my NST died, because of a bad grounding.

  • last but not least your primary shoud either be flat or no more than 30 degree incline, surely not straight vertical like yours, w/ around 15 turns. sorry to pick your coil apart but i am only trying to help. my first coil was 188watts w/ streamers longer than this coil. but hey, at least it works.

  • The helical primary is perfect for this coil, you can make any primaries, the main thing is the coupling between the 2 coils.

As you can see, the video quality isnt good, therefore you cant see every ion channel.

  • plus your optimum larger than resonance capacitance is 47.7nf for 900w, not 56, your caps cannot charge to full. also your secondary is way under-sized for that wattage, you should have at leat a 4" diameter pvc @ 23" long w/ 1000 turns.

  • 47,7 or 56 isnt a big difference, it worked well with 56nF. Yes, the secondary is under sized, because i have experience about secondary sizing, and i find, that it helps, when the sec is undersized a little (10-20%), and i add bigger topload.

  • waw its very nice tesla coil!!! but its a SGTC ? its

    a nst ?

  • Way awesome!

  • 80cm with 90W?? Yes, i sure, that this NST were 9kV/100mA. Maybe in the US you cant find this.

  • I have never heard of an 9000v nst of .1 amps, that's 100ma! are you sure it's not 9000v/10ma? if so your only @ 97 watts not 900. But lets say you are right, ok 900watts, you should be getting at least 3 foot arcs @ only 70% efficentcy!
