@shackle5 Actually, the film isn't that dark at all - it's very lighthearted and can give hope to those watching it.
Now, the novel was dark. It had more blood and gore in it and was a much more complex read.
The movie is fine for kids to watch.

How can you say that? The Neverending Story was one of my favorite movies when i was a kid.
Obviously kids can withstand movies like the Neverending Story without being scarred for life. It's NOT up to you to say whether a fantasy film is for children or not. Leave that to the parents and the experts.
